Who we are

Daniel Muir : Founder and Senior Consultant

I’m Daniel Muir, founder of Supply Chain Scotland. With a background in engineering and continuous improvement and over 20 years experience in senior management and supply chain roles in leading manufacturing businesses in Scotland, I’ve gained knowledge and expertise in all areas of supply chain activity.

Daniel Muir

This can be broadly broken into the front end activities of forecasting and planning, material supply and production, through customer service and engaging with customers and suppliers to improve communication and processes, to managing warehousing and distribution. As well as running and improving the day to day operations in these areas, I’ve been involved in and led many projects including:

  • Product redesign and factory reconfigurations.
  • Business process reviews and IT system implementations including scheduling software, warehouse management and ERP systems.
  • Setting up end to end supply chain processes and distribution networks with new and existing customers.
  • Leading the introduction of S&OP/ IBP (integrated business planning) in multiple businesses.
  • Broader business projects including strategic reviews and acquisition integrations.

I’ve also been a member of the senior leadership team in two leading FMCG businesses, with involvement in managing budgets, strategic projects, corporate strategy and company wide initiatives.

Now, I am passionate about bringing the knowledge and experience I’ve gained through these activities to help other businesses grow and prosper.
